Pha-Real

Pharrell Williams was born April 5, 1973 and more commonly known simply by Pharrell. He is an American rapper, singer, record producer, composer, and fashion designer. While in his mid 30s, Pharrell already managed to become one of the most influential hit makers in pop history, earning comparisons to legends like Quincy Jones. That’s because the Virginia Beach native has produced, through The Neptunes, Grammy award-nominating tracks for artists, such as Kid Rock, Justin Timberlake, Lil’ Kim, LL Cool J, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, Backstreet Boys, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Ice Cube, Ja Rule, Janet Jackson, Moby, No Doubt, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Snoop Dogg, Usher, and many more. In fact, “Pha-real’s” Rolodex has more big names in it than most people’s entire CD collection.
And while majority of us know him for his lead singer title from the band N*E*R*D, Williams has made a name for himself in so many other ways.

As part of The Neptunes, Williams has produced numerous hit singles for various music artists. The production duo have earned three Grammy Awards amongst ten nominations. He is also the co-founder of the clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Clothing. Recently Williams also has designed and released a cream liqueur named QREAM. The "Q" stands for "Queen" and the liqueur comes in two different flavors; strawberry and peach. An opportunity comes when Pharrell was approached by Diageo to collaborate, in which Williams proceeded to make his own research and found that the female audience were being neglected, thus substantiate his idea to make a cream liqueur for women. He mentioned the taste being an ambient of an ice cream, but the liqueur itself contains less calories compared to a wine. And while all of this info about Mr. Williams is quite impressive the main reason we love him is that we has achieved all of the above whilst taking out the title of “Best dressed man in the world”.

His style and swagga is so fresh it makes guys want to be him and girls want to be on him! Having seen him live aswell, he IS that good looking in real life too! Taking a leaf out of his own book Willliams dresses by his own preached words “Let your style evolve and change to fit your mood and occasion. Feel free to dress down and easy one day and sharpen up to a high sheen the next”. He’s a style guru and masterpiece to look at. I think he may just be the living version of Michelangelo’s Statue of David (with incredible clothes on).

Pharrell Fun Facts:
- He is a skateboarder and has a half-pipe inside his home.
- He has undergone a skin procedure to have most of his tattoos removed.
- Recent Twitter reports have spoken of collaborations between Williams clothing label Billionaire Boys Club and Jay Z. No more has been said about the team up however Jay Z has reported "Partnering with @4real4rell on BBC" follow him.. (Not "buying" as GQ erroneously reported.)
- Nicknames include Pha-Real, Lil' Skateboard P and P. Willy
- Quote: My style hero was Batman. Now it’s Tony Stark.

Get your geek on..

Geek Chic is contagious and this unlikely fashion trend has spanned all corners of the globe this season making the uncool...well, cool again.

Glorifying the geek has seen thick-rimmed glasses, suspenders, buttoned-up shirts and ties, man-style trousers, A-line skirts and lace-up shoes, brogues dominating the catwalks from Milan to Melbourne and it's a trend that seems to be loved not just by fashionistas, but celebrities and designers everywhere.

Geek chic popularises everything fashion-loving crowds once loathed and now, the once criticised 'anti-fashion' that was the stereotypical geek style, is now being revered by people the world-over.
Unleash your inner-geek, its cool now!
Go, get cha geek on!!!

Cool, cluttered and collected

On saturday Jimmy an I hit the streets of Melbourne for a little shop and to take some 'styled shots'

As we looked around at the many inspirations we could use as a backdrop, Jimmy mentioned the iconic Hosier Lane across from Federation Square in which I had heard of but never been.
Cool, cluttered and collected, Hosier Lane is one of Melbourne’s most obvious attractions. But unlike many of the city’s hidden or long-reaching laneways, Hosier provides an easily accessible example of how the council allows Melbourne’s minds to wander.

The art inside Hosier is part of the skunk works that is Citylights projects; an initiative run by Andrew Mac designed to corkscrew the concrete jungle into a series of street level canvasses fit for free public viewing. The majority of the artwork is commissioned and/or approved by Citylights, with one of the key elements being the light boxes which are updated approximately every ten weeks. Due to the gonzo nature of graffiti, unauthorized work often appears, but that’s partly the point – without it the lane would be rat trapped and shackled. Citylight’s hard work in Hosier has earned the lane a reputation as one of Australia’s most important cultural attractions. Weekends commonly see the laneway saturated with sound and fury: hot rods running and gunning their engines, drag queens fumbling with cell phones, street carp giggling in leather, bass notes rumbling from rooftops. The lane never tires, never ceases, always advances, always unleashes.

There may be more to Melbourne than the life that lies living and breathing in this alley, but for a newcomer it’s the starting gun for a sprint through the artistic side of the city. A way to engage and acquire, a direction to point and shoot – a tourist’s hand rail to hades, if you will.
